In its pursoot to set the tone of its new collection and to give it the proper exposure, Armani has shot and uploaded a short film. Designer Giorgio Armani and filmmaker Luca Guadagnino have collaborated to create this piece. The short film entitled “One Plus One” was inspired by renaissance art and the filmography of Chantal Akerman.
The fashion collection is animated/set in motion by the interactions between spaces and silhouettes. With their clean, soft lines, the buildings and textured surfaces offer continuity while at the same time navigating between smooth, subtle transitions and high-contrast angles. As the story unfolds, the clothes are brought to life. The story gradually unravels, revealing an emotionally-conflicted young woman caught in an unsettling love triangle. Full of intrigue and suspense, the narrative centers around the chase. The tension is palpable. The dramatic spiraling effect displaces the viewer further, the mounting rhythmic pace and compelling intricacies ultimately lead to a crescendo of climactic revelations uncovered in broad daylight. The tone of the film is left purposely elusive. [Source]
All of the details of the short film, from the presentation of the models to the behind-the-scene footage and the impressions of Mr Armani himself, are all available on the fashion brand’s website. This “One Plus One” short film will also serve as the brand’s marketing campaign for the collection.
