BMW i ran an iAd campaign in Europe reaching iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users in Germany, England and France. iAd is Apple’s mobile advertising network, reaching millions of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users right in their favorite apps. As launch partner for iAd on iPad in Europe, BMW i launched an innovative campaign, which exploited the advertising potential of the iPad and opened the door to a three-dimensional world of mobility images and experiences. The BMW i3 and BMW i8 concept cars formed the main focus of the advertising campaign. iPhone, iPod touch and iPad functionalities brought the cars to life, allowing them to move freely in 3D.
In its pursoot to provide interactive content to their European customers, BMW has partnered with Apple to run a new type of campaign in Europe. Apple launched its iAd for iPad mobile advertising campaign in Europe and BMW’s BMW i wanted to participate. The campaign had BMW i advertisements running on popular iPad applications allowing “clicking customers” to experience a multimedia world around their BMW i vehicles.
BMW has to go hard and be aggressive with their marketing strategy to be able to convince people to buy their BMW i cars and to have them in mass production over the next few years. The tech target market is on point here. I would also imagine people who would be able to afford these fantasy cars could afford to pay for iPads. Get the customers where they are.
